This playful take on Harry Beck’s 1933 Underground Map, shows the lines of the tube as they are being created by a ‘tube’ of paint. Since its creation, this pop-art style print has continued to be commercially popular and earned a place in Campaigns list of top 100 posters of the 20th century.
‘Tate by Tube’ was commissioned as a part of the Art on the Underground series which pushed to bring art back onto the Underground. This poster was created by David Booth of the Fine White Line Agency in 1987, only a year after Art on the Underground was established.
