Molly Moss was born in Hull and attended Hull Art School before becoming a member of Hampstead Artists’ Council. In 1950 she created ‘Out and about; winter London’ for London Transport, which was produced as a pair of posters, the other half of this pair comprises of text only. This pair of posters was produced as a promotion tool for London’s West End. The image poster depicts a bustling city scene complete with transport vehicles, stylishly dressed people and a large theatre billboard announcing, ‘Continuous performance daily from 10am, Sundays from 4pm.’ In this poster the city buildings are illuminated by the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus even on the dark winter night depicted.
Pair posters were intended for prime sites such as Underground station entrances.
