Ruth is an award-winning freelance illustrator and painter. Her illustration combines vibrant colour with dynamic form and is executed using the traditional medium of gouache often with a handwritten element. Originally from Manchester, she studied Graphic Design at Birmingham and North Staffordshire Polytechnic and is now based in Nantwich. Ruth won the prestigious Association of Illustrators Gold award for the best illustration of 2012 for her Smithfield Market image commissioned by Transport for London.
Ruth Hydes was commissioned to produce four posters themed on famous London suburban destinations. This poster features the beautiful Royal Naval College at Greenwich and the others, Epping Forest, Brockwell Park and Primrose Hill.
After a long period of decline, lidos in London became popular again after several venues, such as Charlton and Uxbridge, were rebuilt and re-energised. Brockwell Park lido remains a favourite destination on sunny summer days.
