‘Off to the Zoo’ was published by the London Underground Electric Railway Company Ltd. in 1915.
Originally this poster was created as a colour lithograph, a style of printing which was developed at the end of the eighteenth century. This process involves creating repellent areas on a print so that colour is applied to only certain areas at a time using a metal plate. Lithographic printing was heavily used for advertising prints until the advent of photographic processes in the 20th century.
