This poster was designed by Kathleen Stenning in 1925 and was one of a series of four designed by this artist, which were published by the Underground Electric Railway Company Ltd.
The theme of the series was to promote catching the Tube to avoid the unpredictable English weather – in this case thunderstorms! The boldness of the thunderstorm scene dominates this poster. However, the poster also captures the stormy weather above ground with the contrast of the peace and calm of the travellers underground, travelling in style.
The other posters in the series are ‘Keep Warm’, ‘Keep Dry’ and ‘Avoid the Wet’.
