This poster, By Metro to Watford, promotes the new electric service operating from the City, via Baker Street to Watford. It boasts 140 daily trains, starting at 5.12am from Baker Street and finishing at quarter past midnight. The illustration has an insert showing the town centre of Watford, with market stalls and a Metropolitan Railway (Met) train, destination Watford. The central London and Uxbridge branch of the Met was converted to electricity by 1905, but the Harrow line to Rickmansworth and the Watford branch were not converted until 1925. Steam trains were still used for journeys further north to Aylesbury and beyond. The poster was produced for the Metropolitan Railway in 1925 by an unknown artist.
