This Wimbledon poster was another poster to advertise this popular sporting event, concentrating on the women’s game in 1930. It advertises the start of the championship on June 23rd and one of the stations to travel to, South Wimbledon Station, and then the bus connection to the tennis courts. This poster was published by the Underground Electric Railways Company Ltd in 1930 and was designed by Charles Burton. Charles Burton was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire in 1882. He studied art in London, France and Belgium. In later years he worked as a commercial artist for shipping companies, as well as railways and other national advertisers.
