The Boat Race Centenary designed by Richard T. Cooper for the Underground Group in 1929 gets onlookers right alongside the legendary Thames Boat Race as athletes row with all their might. The excitement from the crown is instantly felt as onlookers shout on their favourites from the banks of the Thames. Richard T. Cooper was born in 1884 and educated at Tonbridge School before pursuing studies in art in Paris at Jullien’s Atelier. After the First World War Cooper became a poster artist, his works are noted for their historical detail. Between 1924- 1935 Richard T. Cooper designed posters for the Underground Group. Richard T. Cooper died in 1957.
