One of many Boat Race posters, depicting the traditional racing scene of the two teams Oxford and Cambridge, which lists the Underground stations to which you can travel to view the event. This poster in various shades of blue was to advertise the event on 21st March at 3pm in 1959.
The poster was designed by Anne Hickmott for London Transport. Anne Hickmott was born in 1935 and became a graphic designer. She worked for many transportation companies including; BEA (British European Airways), BOAC (British Overseas Airway Corporation) and BR (British Rail), as well as several coach companies. In addition to designing posters Anne Hickmott designed book covers, illustrations and became a designer for the BBC.
