McKnight Kauffer had been 'discovered' by Frank Pick, the man behind the bold advertising style of the Underground group and later London Transport. The posters encouraged the idea that everything London had to offer was accessible by travel on bus, tram or train.McKnight Kauffer produced his first Underground poster in 1915 and designed more than 100 for the Underground over the next 25 years.
