Transport for London themed 2016 the Year of Design to highlight the huge design contribution the organisation makes to London's streetscape and built environment. The principal public exhibition was on central London's famous Regent Street, which was specially closed to traffic on Sunday 3 July 2016.
One of the highlighted Pavilions on Regent Street was devoted to moquette design (moquette is the seating fabric that adorns the seats of buses, Underground and Overground trains in London). Fenella Russell, one of Transport for London's principal designers, used various fabric designs in her skyline of London poster which paid homage to the many classic fabric patterns that Londoners have grown to know and love.
Fenella Russell is a Freelance Graphic Designer based in London. She specialises in Branding and Print Design. Originally from London, Fenalla grew up in Normandy in France where she studied and developed her enthusiasm for Design and strong passion for typography.
