Kew Gardens by Clive Gardiner, 1927 calls to passengers of the London Underground, telling them about the exciting activities which the fresh air found at Kew Gardens Underground Station can offer. The boldly coloured image depicts the beauty of the gardens and the serenity which it offers to Londoners.

Cliver Gardiner was born in 1891 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. Gardiner studied at Slade School of Fine Art before the Royal Academy Schools in 1913-1914. Between 1926-1951 Gardiner designed posters for the Underground Group and London Transport. In 1952 Gardiner became the principal at Goldsmith’s College School of Art before his death in 1960.
